The “School Digital” project of the City of Vienna, executed by Wien Energie, achieved and even exceeded all targets and benchmarks last year. More than 40 school locations have already been successfully adapted. ARGE LSG/Mattig-Schauer was assigned probably the largest single project of the entire framework for implementation. This proof of confidence makes us proud and was at the same time an advantage for flawless project execution.

At the Mollardgasse 87 location, several Viennese vocational schools are housed in one building. In addition, the Municipal Department 56 – Vienna Schools is also located in the memorable (and partly listed) building.

The conversion of the entire IT infrastructure to modern topology and area-wide retrofitting of WLAN access points amounts to a total of about 1,250 data sockets on this site. A total of about 120km of data cables were laid under the eyes of the client during operation or in partially operated sections.

Highlights
Due to the structural conditions, the high demands on a school building and the busy school operation, many aspects had to be taken into consideration already in the planning phase. Existing facilities, special features of several school units, IT security and, last but not least, media interest in the “School Digital” project required many coordination discussions with several parties and concrete compliance with agreements in the construction process. At this point, we must also take up the cudgels for the project management and the client: The interaction was flawless!
