On the summit of the Kolomansberg there are two globes visible from afar, sheltering radar heads of the Austrian Armed Forces. They are part of the aerial surveillance system Goldhaube, with two further fixed radar stations and eight mobile radar stations.
The operations buildings and the tower “object R” have been equipped with state-of-the-art heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, sanitary, electrical and building management system. The mostly unmanned station is operating largely independent, connected to the network of the Austrian Armed Forces for encrypted remote supervision. For the periodically deployed military personnel, the building meets the technical comfort of a office building.

Highlights
The landscape around the Kolomansberg is military prohibited area and not open to the public. The project was processed according to the secrecy agreement and strictly defined conditions. Access restrictions for personnel and goods, Check and authorization of every participant, limited data exchange and rough winter conditions have been a challenge for the technical general contractor LSG with TGA and GTS as subcontractors.
