ReUse PV Carport Power Plant Simmering

With the “ReUse PV Carport Power Plant Simmering” project, Wien Energie and the LSG Group are sending a strong signal for innovation, sustainability, and circular economy.

The basic idea: reusing decommissioned wind turbine blades, which are difficult to recycle due to their complex material composition. Instead of disposing of them, the blades are given a second life — as supporting pillars of a modern carport system on the grounds of the Simmering power plant.

Built on top of them is a steel structure covered with high-quality glass-glass photovoltaic modules. Two parallel carports, each 84 meters long and with a total output of around 320 kWp, were constructed.

In addition to technological innovation, great value was placed on design: precisely executed side finishes, optimized rainwater management, and the transparent module covering create a modern appearance and showcase the striking wind turbine blades to full effect.

The installation is complemented by integrated charging stations, whose power supply is also part of our project scope.
