LSG Building Solutions contributes to the development of the new photovoltaic park at Henri Coandă Airport

LSG Building Solutions is contributing to a strategic project aimed at developing the energy infrastructure of Henri Coandă International Airport Bucharest, as the leader of the contracting consortium responsible for designing and building the new photovoltaic park and energy storage system.

The National Airport Company Bucharest (CNAB) has awarded the consortium led by LSG Building Solutions, which includes Demcar 2000, LSG Building Solutions GmbH and the Research and Production Institute for Electrical Engineering ICPE Electrocond Technologies, the contract for the design, technical assistance and construction of the photovoltaic park near Henri Coandă Airport, as well as for its connection to the airport’s power plant. The value of the contract is RON 134 million, excluding VAT.

The first stage of the investment will have a capacity of 12.6 MWp. The electricity generated will be transmitted through a 20 kV underground electrical network and integrated into the airport’s energy infrastructure. The project also includes a BESS energy storage system with a capacity of 17.88 MWh, based on Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) technology. Estimated annual production is approximately 16,300 MWh, with most of the energy intended for the airport’s own consumption.

The Group’s experience in photovoltaic projects dedicated to airport infrastructure also includes projects delivered by LSG Building Solutions GmbH at Vienna International Airport, with a total capacity of more than 30 MWp.

In addition to the photovoltaic plant and battery storage system, the works include transformer substations, underground electrical lines, monitoring and control systems, as well as the infrastructure required for safe operation. Thus, the role of LSG Building Solutions and its partners is not limited to the installation of equipment, but also involves delivering a complete energy system and integrating it into the airport’s existing infrastructure.

The location of the project near an airport also brings specific technical requirements. The solution must take into account the safety of air operations, including the positioning of the panels and the control of solar reflections, so that they do not affect the pilots’ visibility or the operation of airport equipment. At the same time, the new infrastructure must be connected to the existing energy system without compromising the continuity and safety of the power supply.

The investment represents the first stage of a larger project, which envisages the development, in the future, of a total photovoltaic capacity of 31.5 MWp, together with a 30 MWh energy storage system. The objective is to increase the energy independence of Henri Coandă Airport, reduce energy costs and minimise its environmental impact.

The works are scheduled to be completed and commissioned by December 2027. For the LSG Building Solutions team, the project is an opportunity to demonstrate its technical capabilities on a large scale and to turn a landmark project into a stepping stone towards the next challenges.

VIENNA PARKSIDE RESIDENCE – A Summer of Performance and Recognition

With enthusiasm and pride, we announce that, this summer, the first phase of the VIENNA PARKSIDE RESIDENCE project was successfully completed. This important milestone confirms our vision of creating a residential project built around high standards of quality, sustainability, and energy efficiency.
The completion of this first phase was accompanied by the successful completion of all the necessary administrative and technical stages: the acceptance upon completion of the works by the competent authorities, obtaining the GREEN HOMES certification, as well as the Fire Safety and Civil Protection permits.
The project’s performance was also confirmed through an important recognition at the Green Gala Awards 2026, organized by the Romania Green Building Council (RoGBC).
With a total of 101 points accumulated, VIENNA PARKSIDE RESIDENCE – Phase I was nominated and awarded the Award of Excellence in the “Sustainable Buildings – Residential Green Homes and nZEB Certified” category, for the Mid-Market segment, as part of one of the best-known galas dedicated to sustainable construction in Romania.
This distinction represents more than a recognition; it is a confirmation of the standards we committed to from the very beginning and of the way we see residential development: responsible, sustainable, and oriented towards the future.
We are proud of this milestone and grateful to everyone who contributed to achieving it. We look forward with confidence to the next important milestone that is approaching soon, namely the completion of the structure for Phase II of the VIENNA PARKSIDE RESIDENCE project.
Thank you to the entire team for your involvement and professionalism! We continue to build sustainably.

LSG Building Solutions Delivers Izvoarele 2 Hybrid Power Plant – A New Milestone in the Development of Romania’s Smart Energy Infrastructure

LSG Building Solutions proudly announces the successful completion of the Izvoarele 2 Hybrid Power Plant (HPP), a landmark energy project located in Izvoarele, Giurgiu County. Developed for LJG GREEN SOURCE ENERGY GAMMA, the project represents a significant step forward in the modernization of Romania’s energy infrastructure and reinforces the country’s transition towards a more flexible, resilient, and sustainable power system.

As the EPC Contractor, LSG Building Solutions delivered a 160 MWh dispatchable Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) based on Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) technology and equipped with power conversion stations supplied by TRINA STORAGE, a globally recognized provider of utility-scale energy storage solutions. The new installation was integrated into the existing 50 MW photovoltaic power plant, which has been connected to the national grid since 2013, transforming the former Photovoltaic Power Plant into a Hybrid Power Plant (HPP)—a benchmark model for integrating renewable energy generation with advanced energy storage technologies.

With a total investment exceeding EUR 20 million, the project addresses one of the key challenges facing today’s energy sector: maintaining grid stability and system balance as the share of renewable energy continues to grow. The battery energy storage system has been designed to provide essential ancillary services to the Transmission System Operator (TSO), supporting the secure and reliable operation of Romania’s National Power System. These services include Frequency Containment Reserve (FCR), Automatic Frequency Restoration Reserve (aFRR), and Manual Frequency Restoration Reserve (mFRR).

Thanks to its rapid response capability, the system mitigates grid imbalances, helps prevent power outages, and contributes to ensuring a stable and reliable electricity supply for consumers.

Completed within just six months, between February and July 2026, the project demonstrates LSG Building Solutions’ ability to successfully deliver complex energy infrastructure projects while meeting the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and technical excellence.
