FACC, a spare parts factory for Airbus, Boeing, Rolls-Royce in Jakovlje

In December 2020, the Austrian aeronautical company FACC started the construction of a factory in the Jakovlje business zone, not far from Zagreb.

The factory will produce parts for Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier and Rolls-Royce, and this is an investment worth 10.5 million euros. FACC announced the Croatian investment in mid-2019, when the company’s leaders also met with Prime Minister Andrej Plenković. According to the plans presented at the time, the factory was supposed to be completed in March this year and start producing cabin components for commercial and business aircraft using advanced technology and composite materials, but the project documentation was changed and obtaining a building permit was delayed. According to current plans, production could start in the autumn. Ultimately, the factory plans to employ about 300 workers, but the question is how much will the corona crisis affect these plans. According to the schedule for the works in Croatia, the completion of the first phase related to the preparation of the construction site is scheduled for the end of February 2021, depending on weather conditions, and then the construction of the factory will begin.
